<div>through hands-on exploration of two of the most accessible live coding</div><div>environments around: IxiLang developed by Thor Magnusson and Tidal</div><div>developed by Alex McLean.</div><div>We will also talk about the philosophies and musical approaches behind</div>
<div>the live coding movement. Participants will have the opportunity to feed</div><div>their ideas and experiences back into the development of these freely</div><div>available, open source systems.</div><div><br></div><div>

<div><br></div><div>About the workshop leaders:</div><div>Alex McLean is a musician and researcher based in Yorkshire, UK. He is</div><div>a prolific live coder, as one third of the long-lived band Slub (with</div><div>Dave Griffiths and Adrian Ward) and co-founder of the TOPLAP live</div>
<div>coding organisation. He promotes generative music culture as</div><div>co-founder of the Algorave event promoters and the ChordPunch</div><div>algorithmic record label with Nick Collins, and has organised around</div>
<div>80 Dorkbot electronic art events in Sheffield and London.</div><div>Alex is Research Fellow in Human/Technology Interface and Deputy Director of</div><div>the Interdisciplinary Centre for Scientific Research in Music, University of Leeds. </div>

<div>taught workshops in creative music coding and sound installations,</div><div>and given presentations, performances and visiting lectures at diverse</div><div>art institutions, conservatories, and universities internationally.</div>
