Ein weiteres Bewertungskriterium war die Beziehung zwischen dem eingereichten Projektvorschlag und dem bisherigen Werk der Einreichenden. Darüber hinaus wurde die Bedeutung der künstlerischen Untersuchung und des Einsatzes von Technologien im Hinblick auf die aktuelle historische Situation diskutiert. </span></p><p style="text-align:left;text-indent:0pt;margin:0pt 0pt 0pt 0pt;"><span style="color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-family:HK Grotesk;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;"> </span></p><p style="text-align:left;text-indent:0pt;margin:0pt 0pt 0pt 0pt;"><span style="color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-family:HK Grotesk;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;">Dabei stellte die Jury fest, dass eine Reihe von Themen in den Projektvorschlägen immer wieder eine Rolle spielten. Dazu gehörte die Auseinandersetzung mit Gesundheitsfragen, wie etwa verschiedene Krankheiten und Möglichkeiten der Heilung. Ein anderer Schwerpunkt waren digitale Technologien als Erweiterungen des menschlichen Körpers und insbesondere deren Auswirkungen nach pandemischen Lockdowns. Ein weiterer inhaltlicher Fokus lag auf den historischen und künftigen Infrastrukturen von Archiven, vom menschlichen Gedächtnis bis zur digitalen Datenspeicherung. Unsere Entscheidung fiel auf drei Künstlerinnen und Künstler, deren Praxis auf Recherchen beruht – und die offenbar nicht zögern, persönliche Geschichten mit wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnissen und spekulativen Untersuchungen zu verbinden. The open call brought in 252 applications by artists from five continents, the majority coming from Western Europe. There was a high quality in the grant applications, both in terms of the artists’ ideas as well as in their writing and portfolios. The jury also evaluated each proposed project in relation to the artist’s past work. The discussions further revolved around the relevance of the artist’s inquiries and use of technology at this current historical moment. </span></p><p style="text-align:left;text-indent:0pt;margin:0pt 0pt 0pt 0pt;"><span style="color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-family:HK Grotesk;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;"> </span></p><p style="text-align:left;text-indent:0pt;margin:0pt 0pt 0pt 0pt;"><span style="color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-family:HK Grotesk;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;">In this last regard, the jury noticed several recurring topics among the applications. For example, a focus on health issues, including different kinds of illnesses and forms of healing; digital technology as extension of the human body, and particularly its impact following pandemic lockdowns; and the past and future infrastructures of archives, from human memory to digital data storage.
