Er wird eine Mehrkanal-Installation entwickeln, in deren Mittelpunkt Filmkostüme stehen, die vom Designer Abbas Dress Master entworfen wurden, der über 45 Jahre lang in dieser Branche tätig war. Diese Kostüme – einst getragen von Helden, Schurken, Liebenden, Statisten und Nebendarstellern – tragen die physische Erinnerung an Figuren, Geschichten und Arbeit in sich, die durch Jahrzehnte des Filmemachens geprägt wurden. Jedes Video erzählt eine Geschichte des Widerstands gegen den Kolonialismus und der anhaltenden Komplexität der postkolonialen Situation. Heute ist die Villa Standort einer Künstlerresidenz und von Hochhäusern und anderen städtischen Bauprojekten umgeben; sie steht damit als Symbol für sozialen und ideologischen Wandel. Viele der in Oldenburg entstandenen Arbeiten wurden nach ihrer Realisierung in internationalen Ausstellungen präsentiert und mit Preisen ausgezeichnet. These costumes – once worn by heroes, villains, lovers, extras, and bystanders – carry the physical memory of characters, stories, and labour shaped by decades of filmmaking. Thinking through natural elements and across generations this ambitious project imbues local and traditional knowledge in reimagining the future. Now the site of an artist residency and newly surrounded by skyscrapers and other urban developments, the villa comes to represent a cipher of social and ideological change.
