[wos] linux based infrastructure in schools

Having spent several months pondering, our workgroup decided that
an authority in charge to suggest the best, up-to-date software
and hardware solutions for schools and to stress the relavant skills
required to maintain the school infrastructure would play an effective
role to encourage schools switching to linux based local networks, thus
spreading open source technologies and competencies (together with the
underlying principles).
In the next months, we are going to invite the most relevant italian
linux associations to evaluate the timeliness of such a proposal and
possibly to join our efforts to that aim.

In case of success, my opinion is that that organization would take
advantage of close relationships with professional associations to
offer the best technical solutions to schools.

Your comments about the above described idea will be welcome.

I am wondering if such authority could have a europewide scope.

Thank you
