242.pilots

	22 + 23 november 2003, 20.00 hrs

Live-Video-Improvisationen

Hans Christian Gilje (NO), Video
Lukasz Lysakowski (PL/US), Video
Kurt Ralske (US), Video

Sound support: Tordis Berstrand (DK)

Utilizing their own custom software, 242.pilots expressively improvise
rich, layered video works in real-time (both as a trio, and as soloists).
The performance software created by Gilje, Lysakowski, and Ralske allows
video to be controlled on-the-fly in a fluid and expressive manner.
Improvising as a group, the three artists respond to and interact with each
other's images in a subtle and intuitive way. Images are layered,
contrasted, merged, and transformed. The degree of interplay and unspoken
communication between the artists is akin to the best free jazz ensembles.
The end product is a complex visual conversation: a quasi-narrative
exploring degrees of abstaction. Or: a mesmerizing, immersive journey
through diverse landscapes. Or: just raw retinal delight.

242.pilots have performed at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Montreal,
at transmediale.02 Festival in Berlin, at Impakt Festival in Utrecht, NL, at
Steim in Amsterdam, and at Th=E9=E2tre Mercelis in Brussels. They have also
performed at other museums, galleries, and theaters in the Netherlands,
Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Canada, and the US.

KreutzerKommando: synk

	24 + 25 november 2003

Tanz-Video-Performance

Eva Cecilia Richardsen (NO), Choreografin
Hans Christian Gilje (NO), Video
Kristianne Mo (NO), Tanz
Justin Bennett (UK/NL), Sound

KreutzerKommando is the small format experimental side of KreutzerKompani, a
Norwegian dance company established by choreographer Eva Cecile Richardsen
and video artist HC Gilje.

http:/www.kreutzerkompani.com

synk is a 30 min. piece for 1 dancer and 1 videographer.

The starting point of the piece is the movements of the dancer captured by
the videographer through a videocamera and videosampler, which is the source
material for the videoprojection in the performance. We seek to explore the
relations between the dancer=B4s movements on stage with the manipulated
/looped/timestretched/cutup/deconstructed version coming from the
videographer.

This visual expression will be complemented by justin bennett on sound
sampling/manipulation, who will work in a similar way with the audio:
sampling the sounds in the space, and respatializing them using a surround
sound system.

Benny Nemerofsky Ramsay: Live to Tell

Video Installation (Loop, 5:15 min)

2002, Kanada/Deutschland

Allgegenw=E4rtige =DCberwachungskameras werden zum Publikum eines vielstimmi=
gen
Chors, der Madonnas Ballade aus den fr=FChen 1980er Jahren vortr=E4gt. Ein
Spiel mit Intimit=E4t und Identit=E4t im Medienzeitalter.

A ubiquity of surveillance cameras become the audience for a choral
rendition of an early 80s Madonna ballad. A play with intimacy and identity
in the media age.

opens 22 november 2002, 19.00 hrs

Sandro Canavezzi de Abreu: M(n)EMO: a topological endoscopy into someone
else's dream
(eine topologische Endoskopie in den Traum eines anderen)

Interaktive Installation

Tief/flach, innen/aussen, Eindringen/Gleiten, Traum/Wachen,

Deep/ flat, inside/outside, penetration/slide, dream/awake,
observer/observed: by putting these opposite pairs in confrontation,
M(n)EMO interactive installation processes discrete data (digital
video/sound/text clips) that melds into each other when activated by the
user. This process is reversible: a liquid material is also generated in
order to freeze again. The tension between these "states" of information
reflects the intermittently, secret and unsuccessful attempt to "freeze the
instant of freezing" intrinsic in the system.

Sandro Canavezzi de Abreu, Brasilien, war 2001-2002 mit Unterst=FCtzung der
brasilianischen CAPES Foundation Artist in Residence im Podewil und
Mitglied des Codelab.
