ID Without Colors | Insitutional Racism in Germany
Germany 2013 Dir: Riccardo Valsecchi

DIRECTOR ATTENDING

Riccardo Valsecchi's documentary examines racial profiling and
instutionalized racism in Germany.
In 2012, the administrative court in Koblenz ruled that federal police
were allowed to conduct identity checks based upon ethnicity or
religion. After protests the decision was overturned the same year.
However, police representatives complained about no being able to use
"experience-based knowledge" in their work. Groups such as KOP (Campaign
to Support Victims of Police Brutality) formed to combat abuses by law
enforcement and homeland security agencies. In his film Valsecchi
interviews abuse victims, activists and legal experts.

Screening followed by a panel discussion with Riccardo Valsecchi, Biplab
Basu (KOP), Prof. Dr. Hartmut Aden (Forschungsinstitut für Öffentliche
und Private Sicherheit der HWR Berlin), Moderation: Axel Bussmer
(Humanistische Union)
