DJ-Performance with regard to the book "Schleifen. Zur Geschichte und
Ästhetik des Loops"
https://www.facebook.com/events/963304803720797/

"Sillon fermé" was Pierre Schaeffer´s term for the closed record grooves
that he used to create his "Études de bruits" in 1948.

Tonight we gonna do like Pierre Schaeffer did, and create an evening of
music exclusively out of closed record grooves.

In a live mix on four turntables the run-out groove of "St. Pepper" will
slam into the Industrial loops of Boyd Rice which will collide with the
162 endless grooves on the “Lockers” sampler only to be wiped out by the
never-ending applause at the end of Abba´s "Super Trouper" album.
There´s no stopping this rocking!

The reason for this Mega-Mix is on the one hand the publication of the
book "Schleifen. Zur Geschichte und Ästhetik des Loops" (Schleifen.
Towards the history and aesthetics of the loop)) by Tilman Baumgärtel
http://loopsbuch.org/
("a kind of fundamental work" (die tageszeitung), "inspiring" (Groove),
“well-worth reading” (Vice)) and on the other hand the presentation of
Hanno Leichtmanns LP "Unfinished Portrait Of Youth Today"
https://karlrecords.bandcamp.com/album/unfinished-portrait-of-youth-today
("beautifully simple" (The Wire), "hypnotically repetitive" (Boomkat)).

Both the composer and the author will be present to let those endless
grooves repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat themselves....

The presentation will be in English, admission is free.

When? Friday, July 10, 8 PM
Where? Echo Buecher, Grüntaler Strasse 9, 13357 Berlin, Tel.
030-48628448, echobuecher.com
