*Conducting the amplified bodyA matinee of electrically [de]controlled
musicians*

On march 15th, at 6pm in the Studio space of ACUD macht neu, a group
of musicians and researchers presents a series of musical performances
involving the use of electric muscle stimulation in unfamiliar ways.

They aim to address questions concerning challenges that arise with the
evolution of human–machine assemblages. Therefore as an experimental and
collaborative approach, the project revolves around questions of
subjectivity, artist-ego in confrontation with instability, loss of
autonomy.

The Australian artist Michaela Davies and the Berlin-based musician
Jonathan Heilbron will present the further development of an existing
performance. The evening follows with a series of experimental &
work-in-progress-pieces developed by Michaela together with Pedro Lopes
(human-computer interaction researcher & turntablist), Robert
Lindenberg (neuroscientist), Ian Douglas-Moore (guitarrist), and Jonathan
Heilbron (double bassist),as part of a workshop at ACUD Macht Neu.

In between the pieces, the audience has the possibility of experiencing
electric muscle stimulation and, taking an active part ina group
performance. After the performances the artists will put their work into a
wider contextual frame, allowing the audience to learn and question more on
the technical details and artistic approaches.
