Hi there,

I just got to know about your list and thought I'd let you know about a cal=
l
for submissions (below). I hope it's fitting for your site. If not, please
feel free to forward it to people/lists/magazines you think would be
interested.

Thanks,

Lone
ideagarden

NB: This is a renewed call for submissions; our exhibition has been up and
going for six months, with great response, and will continue for the next
six months. =20

We are ideagarden, a small production company in San Francisco. We are
looking for existing visual artwork to feature in an ongoing mixed-media
installation that we have created in the lobby of 300 California Street, a
high-profile property located in the heart of San Francisco's financial
district. The building recently won the American Institute of
Architecture's award for interior design, and houses such tenants as
Electronic Arts, CascadeWorks and Proficient Networks.

The purpose of this project is to introduce flow and movement to the lobby,
while also branding the building as a place of innovation and creativity.
Accordingly, the installation consists of a breeze-powered kinetic
sculpture, a lobby soundscape, and compilation films presented on three
small LCD TV monitors mounted above each of the lobby's three elevators,
with corresponding soundtracks played inside each the elevators.

We show a variety of visual styles on the TV monitors, including live
action, animation, motion graphics, abstract imagery and photographs. We'r=
e
looking for interesting visual work that ranges from 30 seconds to 3 minute=
s
in length. If chosen, it will be grouped on a DVD along with other work,
musically scored, and presented on the monitors for a three-month period.

To be perfectly honest, this is an experiment. Based upon our notion that
everyone could use more art in their lives, ideagarden's long-term goal is
to use this first installation as a means of developing a series of
alternative non-commercial "galleries" in commercial centers around the
world. We see these galleries as a means of encouraging appreciation and
utilization of art in its pure form within the world of commerce, while als=
o
promoting artists and fostering international collaboration between them.

Accordingly, this is also an experiment for our client. Our budget for thi=
s
initial installation is modest, and has primarily covered site fabrication
and the equipment required to show your work. We pay a modest honorarium
for exhibited submissions ($20 per) and offer screen space, credits
(on-screen, via elevator cards and our website), and inclusion in our
budding network. See website link below.

Content parameters are as follows:
--submitted works should be strictly visual in nature, with the artist open
to having their work scored (music/sound design)
--installation themes are flow and movement, both formal and abstract,
linguistic, symbolic, ?
--all works will be exhibited via 7" LCD TV screens, with viewers standing
approximately 3-5 feet away; imagery should be appropriately scaled.
--acceptable media include: Betacam, VHS, DV, jpeg, Quicktime files
--please label all submissions (title/total running time/name/address), and
include a brief blurb about the work.
--please ask us if you have additional questions about content or submissio=
n
guidelines.
--submissions will not be returned unless specifically requested and
accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Please send us or drop off samples of your work at:
