Announcing the 1st Lancaster Film & New Media Festival - Scheduled for July
2003 - Lancaster, United Kingdom.

The festival will be spread over two days, with screenings and events at the
Dukes
 Cinema and at Folly in Lancaster on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th July.

Local Submissions - Deadline 19th May

Lancashire and Cumbria film and new media work.

No film or new media work should be longer than ten minutes, giving artists,
 producers, students and local community groups a number of creative
options.


Categories include Short Animation, Short Fiction, Documentary, New Media
with
an additional awards and prizes for first work and student film.

The emphasis is on locally produced film and new media content although work
from
other areas will be considered.

The selection panel consists of:

IAN ASPIN - 421 PRODUCTIONS
3 CATLOW SISTERS - THREE BEARS FILMS
TOM HOLLEY - THE MEDIA CENTRE, HUDDERSFIELD
LOU GEORGE - Film programmer, Brewery Arts Centre

Judges include:

MICHAEL CONNOR - Curator, FACT Centre, Liverpool
ANNETTE KUHN - Film Theorist and Critic - Lancaster University.
KAVITA BALI - Film-maker and Artist. Urban Peacock, San-Francisco.

International Submissions - Deadline 24th May

To support the Lancaster Film and New Media Festival Folly is looking for
International
submissions of short film and new media works.

International works will be selected and shown at the Dukes Cinema with
non-linear works
 being shown at Folly. Work will be shown alongside Frame by Frame, Croatian
video art
 retrospective curated by Branko Franceschi and New Media Scotland

 and work from the Manchester based Commonwealth Film Festival

International works will be curated by Folly in collaboration with artist in
residence, Adinda Van't Klooster.
