Call for participation

Peam2003 is an international festival of contemporary
electronic-based art, coordinated in Pescara City, centre-east of
Italy.
The meeting is organised by Artificialia.

Main subject of the meeting is "Electronics in Art and Art in Electronics".
The focus is on the new interaction of electronics and human in art
and culture.

Highlighted Concepts:
- Autonomous Electronic Based Artifacts, Electronics in place of the artist
- Interactive Electronic Based Artifacts, Electronics as Artist's co-author
- Electronics as Art and Art as Electronics
Categories of accepted works:
- Videos and Animations
- Music and Sound
- Software, multimedia and similar
- Electronics based Sculptures
- Electronics based Installations
All media electronics art works without genre limitations are accepted:
- Video-art, VJ's, Visualizers and interactive videos;
- Interactive electronic music and sound;
- Multimedia installations; Accepted works are automatically
published on the festival web site and, later, will be published on a
CD-ROM.

Peam2003 is not a competition but, on the opposite, is organised with
the purpose of eliciting the meeting and the cooperation between
electronic artists.

Each category has its own curator who controls work submission and
does preliminary assessment. Such a selection will be done in order
to garantee both quality and coherence, within the overall event
- Net-art and web-art;
- Software art;
- Graphical and 3D experiments;
- Robotics Art and Electronic Sculptures
- New electronics based art concepts and similar.
The Peam2003 will be held from the 21st-25th May 2003, in Pescara,
where we plan a final Exhibition where participants of the festival
will be presented.

The Peam2003 is hosted by Ecoteca (http://www.ecoteca.org/), a Café
which is specialised in conducting cultural events and festivals
devoted to art, ethnic cultures, youth ecological movement, etc.

Ecoteca is located in Pescara, Abruzzo region. Ecoteca is run by the
Ecotech S.r.L.

The Peam2003 workgroup is a collaboration of media artists and modern
culture activists from Pescara.

Peam 2003 will be held in Pescara from the 21st to the 25th of May 2003.

During the meeting days will be run concerts and performances of
different invited artists.
The basic idea is that Peam should be a 5 days full immersion in the
Electronic Art world.

During the Peam2003, in Pescara, will be held a conference and
different workshops on the meeting related subjects. Moreover, the

Deadline and Rules

Works can be submitted both via mail or e-mail and must reach the
organisers by 10 th of May 2003.

In both cases, an accurate description of the art piece and/or
installation is required.
At the same time, photos, videos and other multimedia presentation
that might help and facilitate organizers understanding are
encouraged.

Attention: Peam2003 can also exhibit some works of artists which
won't physically reach the meeting (music, installations, website,
animations, software, etc.), as far as organisers receive accurate
information and detailed technical requirements.

Attention: We do not encourage art that is made by the mean of
electronic and later transferred to analogue -linear media e.g.
non-interactive computer animations on videotape or prints of
digitally manipulated photographs. These art forms has several,
already established forums, and we will therefore focus our energy on
electronic based art.
Moreover, during the festival there will be held concerts and
performances of invited electronic artists.
Peam2003 will be carried out from 21st-25th May 2003

- Assessment by 15th May 2003
- Exhibition 21-25 May 2003.
From 21st to the 25th May 2003 we plan a final Exhibition in Pescara,
where  participants of the festival will be presented.

We will publish a CD with Peam2003 materials and works by the end of August.
