The Swedish Arts Grants Committee (Konstnärsnämnden ) seeks new director
of IASPIS

Since its founding in 1996, IASPIS has developed into an important
center of international cultural exchange for artists, curators, and
critics, with its base at the studio building at the Royal Academy of
Fine Arts in Stockholm. IASPIS is the international component of the
Visual Arts Fund (Bildkonstnärsfonden), and is charged with stimulating
the international contacts of Swedish artists - visual artists as well
as those working in the plastic arts. This is carried out by offering
various types of studio visits in Sweden and abroad, and by granting
stipends to Swedish artists who have been given the opportunity to work
or study abroad. IASPIS is also engaged in outreach via its exhibitions,
lectures, and publications. For more information, see: www.iaspis.com
<http://www.iaspis.com>.

Because IASPIS' current director, Sara Arrhenius, will be moving on to
new work at the end of the year, The Arts Grants Committee is looking
for a new director who can lead IASPIS and develop the scope of its
activities. We are looking for someone with broad, documented expertise
in Swedish and international contemporary art, and who is known in
Sweden and abroad as someone with a distinctive approach in the field.
Experience that could be relevant here would be, for example, work as a
curator, critic, producer, or artist in the visual or plastic arts. A
comprehensive Swedish and international network in the visual and
plastic arts is an important qualification. In addition, since English
is the language used at IASPIS, good knowledge of English is a must.

We are looking for someone with a strong vision of how IASPIS and
international cultural exchange for Swedish artists can be developed in
the future. As the director of a small, flexible, outward-directed,
fast-paced workplace, one that demands irregular working hours and
frequent travel, you must be accustomed to management, must tolerate
stress, and must have excellent social skills.

The position is a three-year appointment which can commence as the
parties see fit.

We would like to receive your application no later than August 30th. The
application should include a c.v., references, and your desired salary,
along with a short description of your vision of how IASPIS should be
developed. The application should be sent to:

Konstnärsnämnden, Box 1610, S-111 86 Stockholm. Information about the
job can be obtained from Sara Arrhenius (tel. 08 402 35 88, 0733 727433)
from August 16 onward, from the chair of Bildkonstnärsfonden, Sune
Nordgren(+47 22993872), from the Administrative Director of
Konstnärsnämnden, Nils Johansson (08 4023580), and from the Secretary of
Bildkonstnärsfonden, Lars Olof Gustafson(08- 4023575).
