Onthe relationship between Copyright,
Intellectual Property and Art

Guest-speaker Dr.Dawn M Leach from Dusseldorf, author of the recent
bookArtists, Artworks, and Intellectual Property
in an Electronic Environment, will talk on the topic of“How to Name
theBeast”.In her talk she will address the changes and
developments in the forms and terminologies used in legal systems andin
art-production, taking examples from the site
where these changes are most recognisably at work: the point
ofdiscrepancy between the real and the virtual world.

To respond to her ideas we are happy to invite SebastianLütgert,
net-artist, activist and coordinator of the onlineproject
Textz.com, an archive of critical texts and in itself an ‘anticopyright’
artwork. His work has recently become the subject of
a law-suit, as a result of his posting copyright protected texts fromthe
theorist Theodor Adorno on the web-site of textz.com.

After the talk and response, Drabble+Sachs will chair an opendiscussion
about the themes and questions raised, and we
invite you all to join in and put forward your own opinions on
thesubject.

With thefriendly support of the Art and Design Academy Basel.
Littmann Cultureprojects and the Kunsthalle Basel.
