Subject: RHIZOME_RARE: Code :: call for submissions

Code :: an online exhibit of open-source net-based ©ode-art
hosted & organised by year01.com

application deadline: jan. 1/05
launch: july 1/05

/ ***/

What are we looking for?

>> projects that evoke and answer questions about the nature and
structure of code as artifact and commodity.

>> art that references and re-vitalizes the gaming genre with
socially-relevant content

>> installations that collect data from physical sources and that
operate in conjunction with web interfaces.

>> code-intensive work that uses the web as a living organism to supply
raw data.

>> net-art that generatively and dynamically evolves in conjunction with
the net.

Works will be exhibited in 2 forms:
>> as web-interfaces
>> as code (Note :: Open-source in this context means source files will
be made available for download.)

The exhibit will be curated by David Jhave Johnston. Four
artist-programmers will be selected. Emphasis will be placed on
technically innovative projects that also excel aesthetically and
conceptually. Works which have been previously exhibited online will not
be eligible. An artist fee will be paid. An online mgazine and maillist
discussion will run concurrent with exhibit.
