Guerilla artists C6 return to London with SOLD OUT, a 4 day show comprising
of a series of presentations, exhibits and performances, once again
brandishing the controversial collective's trademark disregard for
convention, bridging the gaps between the gallery and the street, art and
technology.

Taking over a shop-front in Shoreditch (the spiritual homeland of 'New Media
New Arse'), SOLD OUT plays heavily on notions of art and consumer, creating
pervasive media invasions of the street and recontextualising them within an
'art environment'. Transformed into a 90's new media reception area, the
space will offer visitors coffee and free wireless access whilst, in true C6
prankster style, punters could also fall prey to the exploits of Bluetooth
'snipers' as technological vulnerabilities are laid bare.

Simulating the working week, each day of the show shifts its focus across a
range of works and collaborations, complimented by presentations and
lectures from the artists. By night the space will transform into a live
venue with performances from an eclectic selection of music and visuals: if
the prodigal Metronomy doesn't get you going, maybe grime scene's LDN will
tickle your fancy? String quartet isn't your cup of tea? Perhaps you'd
rather bear witness to the sampling genius of legendary Norwegian band, Nood
(who have chosen SOLD OUT to provide the stage for their last ever public
performance).

New work (C6's 3D community chat software, ECHO, will launch at the show)
and previously commissioned pieces (Want & Need, a Norwegian commission,
last seen at the NuMusic festival this summer) sit side by side, though it's
the first time any of the work has shown in the UK so, unless you're a C6
stalker, it's unlikely you will have seen any of this before.

The last day of the show launches C6's DIY Survival Handbook (There is No
Subculture, Only Subversion), a collection of cutting-edge theories,
case-studies and how-to's of cultural sabotage, - essential reading for
anyone interested in a little media subversion. With contributions from
dozens of leading artists and commentators, topics range from how to finance
your own art projects by 'unorthodox' means, to mobile phone hijacking
techniques, to subversion in the supermarket.

The gallery opens every day from 11am and events run til late, so whether
you drop in to use the wireless network, play with SMS artworks, watch the
bands or grab your free copy of the DIY Survival Handbook, there really is
no excuse for missing out on this veritable treasure trail of corporate
subversion.
