'StoryRooms' exhibition catalogue available now

The DVD catalogue of the international media art exhibition 'StoryRooms'
is now available from Cornerhouse Publications.  Curated by Andrea Zapp,
the show took place at the 1830 warehouse of Manchester's Museum of
Science and Industry, UK, site of the world's first passenger railway and
home to a replica of the 1948 "Baby" computer. 'StoryRooms' took place

Featuring works by international media artists Susan Collins (UK);
Paul DeMarinis (USA); Ken Goldberg (USA); Paul Sermon (UK); Alexei
Shulgin/Electroboutique (Russia); Cornelia Sollfrank (Germany); Tan
Teck Weng (Malaysia/Australia); Andrea Zapp (Germany/UK).

Directed by artists Dave Griffiths and Nick Jordan.

'StoryRooms' featured surreal, fascinating and thought-provoking
networked installation environments that invite exploration of the ways we
now communicate with each other and with technology. The DVD contains a 35
min film capturing the unique atmosphere of the event and its audience
involvement while reflecting the installations through interviews with the
creators.

The technical nature of the artworks became invisible and instead they
challenged the audience to take part in interactive scenarios, unexpected
stories and impromptu visual dialogues. The projects examined our life in
media culture and a digitised society - by linking the physical
installation and digital space, within extraordinary models of art and
networking that encourage the viewers own creative input.

Special features include: interactive access to artists' chapters; a
30 min downloadable installation soundtrack by The Durutti Column's Vini
Reilly; two new commissioned short films by the directors, created in
response to the exhibition theme of networked storytelling; and an
illustrated essay booklet by Martin Rieser and Andrea Zapp.
