~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CCCK is a collaboration between Ingela Johansson and Inga Zimprich involving artistic collaborations with Volodymyr Kuznetsov, artist group Revolutionary Experimental Space (REP), philosopher Irene Gurkalo and others. Its investigation Post Funding Eastern Europe emerged in response to the Center for Contemporary Art Kyiv (CCA), and its exemplary economic and political position. Since August 2006 CCCK has in publications, discussions, exhibitions and articles aimed to debate the values and roles assigned to contemporary art in relation to the ideological background of its financial stake-holders in Ukraine (www.ccc-k.net).
In its prospective extension CCCK aims to instigate a further re-reading of East European and Central Asian Soros Centers for Contemporary Art (SCCA's), which had to re-position themselves since the final cease of Soros funding for the Art Centers during the 2000s. CCCK would like to encourage the decoding of processes of rendered art-history writing in relation to foreign funding, the functioning of pre-defined institutional models and concepts of professionalism in relation to local artistic contexts, as well as subsequent emerging institutional models and current institutional and economic realities.
Inga Zimprich's projects revolve around the negotiation of the conditions under which we are public, we cooperate and we create and distribute knowledge. Next to curatorial engagements, Zimprich (co)initiated the long term projects Center for Context and Communication, Kiev, the research project Post-Funding Eastern Europe, the group-ware research and development project Thinktank 0.1 - 1.0 and the self-generative institution Faculty of Invisibility.
Inga Zimprich has co-coordinated the artist-run space Public Space With A Roof, Amsterdam; she studied at the Jan van Eyck Academie, post-academic institute for research and production in Maastricht, NL from 2005- 2006 and is resident of het Blauwe Huis, a residency for the mind in Ijburg, Amsterdam. Since 2006 Inga Zimprich works as freelance curator for the Center of Contemporary Art, Kiev. Zimprich lives and works in Berlin, DE and - more and more - in Kiev, UA.
lab_Off Centre is a series of events organised by iRes at University College Falmouth. Theorists, artists, philosophers, curators and others are invited to present their research and art projects which take place or/and consider the periphery in various dimensions. All the events are open to the public and are organised irregularly as informal discussions, workshops and presentations.
The underpinning question of this series of events is: how do we understand periphery in the network society which structure is based on nodal points connected by many edges; does the idea of periphery and centre cease to exist in the network condition; or is it being translated into its new environment.
lab_Off Centre is interested in presenting projects which not only or not necessarily are characterised by their geographical distance from the centre. They are chosen on the basis of their explicit or implicit connection to the relationship between centre and periphery. The aim of those meetings is to look at the spaces and situations which take place in between, which are positioned in Hardt and Negri's "oblique or diagonal stance", perhaps creating other relations or suggesting another way(s) of understanding periphery. The common characteristic for all the invited projects, which was another basis for the curatorial choice, is the fact that they are self-organised, distributed, result of collaborative effort and grounded in scrupulous research.
lab_Off Centre is a project initiated by Magda Tyżlik-Carver, Research Assistant at iRes (www.ires.org.uk)
Kind regards, Magda
