- 01 to 24 October :

Residence of Patrice Riemens and conference-debate on 23 October - Nantes

We invite the researcher Patrice Riemens for a month, to develop his
research on the subject of 'hacking in Europe' (free software,
medialab, hacklab, mediactivism)
Patrice Riemens is a geographer, a cultural activist, a fellow of the
Waag Society ('for Old and New Media') in Amsterdam, an official
'F/OSSophe' of the Tactical Technology Collective and a member of
'Multitudes' editing board. He was involved at the time in a variety
of their events, which helped make Amsterdam renowned for its digital
public culture.
He is now mainly involved in the 'political' diffusion of free
software, sharing
knowledge and Open organisations. He also acts as a strong partisan of 'artist
conviviality', helping to create meetings and 'cooling' or
de-stressing events during cultural events - often overloaded.

- 17 to 18 October - Bourges - France

Conference APO33 : multiplicity, network research and non-geolocated
collaboration

GROUPS AND COMMUNITIES: NO LONGER PLAIN SERVANTS OF RESEARCH BUT
INTERNAUTES NETWORKS

The introduction of technology in creation, artistic production and
media had incouraged the formation of 'groups'. These aggregates of
individuals, often from various domaines, used to explore and
experiment new devices and look at the outcome in their work and
practice.
Some renowned groups emerged after 1945, such as the Group of research
in music and its induction into image making: 'le Service de la
Recherche de l'ORTF' influenced and managed by Pierre Schaeffer.
Nowadays, in a society where technology occupies all the fields,
Groups have evolved into communities that share the same interests,
objectives and passions. They practise networking, and thus share
their knowledge and broaden their communities' horizons.
What are the new contents, technologies, interactions, compared to the
inventive and overpowering ancestors of the '60? What marks have these
left behind them? How come what used to be called 'mass media' have
now become essential in our society?

- Friday 24 October - London

BOT project live At 'Headphones Festival Placard'

Initiated by Apo33, BOTs form a virtual community in the continuation
of the POULPE project, i.e. it aggregates various entities into one
place and then diffuse them on to other places. BOTs are a new
approach to some digital phenomena: networks, immobile
multigeolocation, inter-connections of on-line interventions and
processing of immediate data, automating a certain treatment of
reality and, especially in the BOT case, opening up a field for
permanent and ubiquitous experimentation.
This festival will give us a chance to verify if, via the BOT, we can
create a collective piece of music or a sound piece, by bringing
together at the same time the works of various performers and
performing machines!

- Thursday 30 October - Nantes

Apo33 diffusion introduces:

DAVE PHILLIPS (Zürich) ? multimedia performer

A founding member of 'Fear of God' (hardcore thrash metal), Dave
Phillips is a noise artist, animal, voice, physical performance,
concrete music... His music is impulsive, powerful and direct like an
earthquake's. A mixture of screams, elusive noises and other forms of
sound, his sonority resounds in the listener's body through
amplification, mirroring his/her moving body, playing on the extreme,
and the rough sound upsets our soul, shifts our sensations to a
universe of barely audible microevents and nuances.
