Description organisation and place within the organisation:

The Hanze University is in the process of developing itself from an
educational institution to a knowledge-based institution in an ever
more interactive relationship with her environment. Conducting applied
research in close collaboration with partners from the professional
practice is an important element in this. The Hanze University
conducts this research in six thematic research centres in which
research of more than thirty research groups is brought together. The
Centre of Applied Research and Innovation Art & Society is the latest
addition to the six research centres.

The Centre of Applied Research and Innovation Art & Society is a
partnership between Academy Minerva School of Fine Arts, Design and
Pop Culture and The School of Performing Arts (Prince Claus
Conservatoire and Dance Academy Noord-Nederland). The key issue in the
research conducted by The Centre of Applied Research and Innovation
Art & Society is the innovation of the professional practice of
artists and designers in relation to the interaction between the
artist and her/his environment. The Centre of Applied Research and
Innovation Art & Society comprises three research groups: Lifelong
learning in Music & the Arts (Prince Claus Conservatoire and Royal
Conservatoire in The Hague); Image in Context and Pop Culture,
Sustainability & Innovation (both Academy Minerva). The professor of
Image in Context will be appointed by Academy Minerva, reports to the
dean and participates in the Centre of Applied Research and Innovation
