Dark Eden Conference
6th - 8th November 2020
DARK EDEN is the sixth International Transdisciplinary Imaging
Conference, the previous iterations of which have been held in Istanbul
and Edinburgh among other locations. Due to travel restrictions, this
conference will be streamed online with live panel discussions.
DARK EDEN is a conference that addresses the orientation and the fate
of image culture in an era of pandemics, climate crisis, social media
disinformation, drone surveillance, and the emergence of AI and general
augmented intelligence. The conference theme was initially formulated
before the disastrous bushfires in Australia at the end of last year.
The past year’s avalanche of dire events—along with the global,
indeed planetary, consequences of the imminent US election—have only
added to the timeliness and urgency of this conference.
We can offer this exciting assembly of over sixty international
speakers—artists, designers, theorsists, science and technology
researchers—presenting new and innovative work over three packed days
from Friday 6th November to Sunday 8th November 2020 for a modest $45
registration. The distinguished keynote speakers are Timothy Morton,
Laura Marks and Barb Bolt. The conference is chaired by Paul Thomas and
co-chaired by David Eastwood and Chelsea Lehmann.
Please share this invitation and the conference program with anyone you
feel might be interested, and do please come along.
