Dear Andreas,

special thanks for the EastUnBloc: Networks of Net Art, Syndicate and
Deep Europe event yesterday.

For a person like me, who had the good fortune to participate in many of the
Central- East European events in the early nineties -your presentation
yesterday was much needed and very powerful.

As you might recall, I actively participated in the Syndicate mailing list
and related events as early as Ex Oriente Lux, Bucharest in 1993 and
the Ostranenie Festivals in Bauhaus, Dessau (1993-1997), the Hybrid
Workspace
in the Orangerie at Documenta 1997 up to the Syndicate meeting in 2023,
Riga, Latvia. Also participated in the Metaforum events from 1997, Budapest
onward to 2024, Budapest.

As an example of the networked activities: Through meeting Edy Mukka
I worked for a number of years in Albania (still in contact with Eleni
Laperi, Tirana) and and among other activities I was co-teaching media
art, art&sci workshops in the entire region.

Working as an independent consultant for the (today much-reviled) Soros
Foundation, I participated in many of the Central- East European events
over the decades which led to the current media art/art&sci&tech
environment.

I would also like to mention here that in addition to the above mentioned
(often Soros supported) public conferences, exhibitions and events in the
early nineties there was also a considerable amount of much needed
mundane administrative tasks such as helping (for example for me at
Soros in
Budapest) aspiring artists to develop their biographies and applications
for international exhibitions etc.,) as this was not available in the
previous decades East of Vienna.

As you mentioned yesterday: the situation has changed: in those times
the issues of trans-locality, hybridization, collectives representing
artists were prominent often discussed issues.

This is a personal thank you, please do not publish the content.

yours
