Une œuvre de Raqs Media Collective, comme un coup dans une partie d’échecs que tout le monde peut apprécier, peut être très simple dans son apparence et son exécution et cependant être due à des motifs immensément complexes. A chaque fois, leur corpus d’œuvres qui s’élargit nous rappelle le plaisir d’inventer nos propres règles pour penser et imaginer le monde. Raqs suit son impératif autodéclaré de «contemplation cinétique» qui consiste à produire une trajectoire impatiente et agitée dans les formes et les méthodes qu’elle déploie, bien qu’elle montre une cohérence dans les procédures de pensée. Leurs travaux les plus récents explorent qui va des histoires d’amour aux spéculations révolutionnaires, investiguant les voyages dans l’espace, les mystères des expertises médico-légales et les usines abandonnées, parmi d’autres possibilités. Durant son premier séjour à Genève, le collectif présentera des aspects de sa pratique actuelle à travers des images, des enregistrements, des notes et des commentaires durant une session, sous le titre «Rules to be invented» («Règles à inventer»).
