Science, Art & Filmfestival widmet sich Bio:Fiction
dem Themenfeld Synthetische Biologie. Im Gegensatz zur
konventionellen Biotechnologie beschränkt sich die
Synthetische Biologie nicht auf die Manipulation
bestehender Genome, sondern will diese in Zukunft „auf dem
Reißbrett“ neu entwerfen. Die möglichen Anwendungen, die
Synthetische Biologie hervorzubringen vermag, sind
vielfältig.</font></font></font></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0cm; font-weight: normal;" align="LEFT"><font
color="#000000"><font face="Helvetica, sans-serif"><font
style="font-size: 10pt;" size="2">Künstliche Organismen
könnten z.B. schon bald eine wesentliche Rolle bei der
künstlichen Erzeugung seltener Rohstoffe, von Medikamenten
oder der Entwicklung neuer Materialien wie Spinnenseide
spielen. Bio:Fiction will mit seinem umfassenden Programm
auf die Potentiale und Folgen dieser Technologie
aufmerksam machen. Das Festival bringt Wissenschafter,
Künstler und Filmschaffende zusammen, um sich ganzheitlich
mit den Anwendungen und Risiken einer künftigen
Biotechnologie-Gesellschaft auseinanderzusetzen.</font></font></font></p>

Diskussionen, ein Filmwettbewerb sowie die Bio-Art

aktuelle Stand der Forschung, gesellschaftliche
Auswirkungen und ethische Aspekte der Synthetischen
Biologie stehen dabei im Zentrum. Die Veranstaltungen
richten sich an Wissenschaftler, Künstler, Studenten,
