The <a moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://www.khm.de/en/"
target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration:underline">Academy of
Media Arts Cologne (KHM)</span> </a>is committed to advancing
interdisciplinary approaches to media art. Students are free to
choose from a wide range of sophisticated theoretical and
project-based courses leading to a diploma (Diploma I, II). The
acquisition of practical artistic experience combined with
theoretical and technical competences is considered paramount.<br>

The Academy of Media Arts/Department Art invites applications
for:<br>
<b>Professor in Networks </b>(Level W2 according to German civil
service employees' tariff)<br>
It is a full-time position, limited to 6 years. The position
should ideally be filled by winter 2016.<br>
<br>
We are looking for an artist who covers the fields of
contemporary media and global networked systems and whose
practice includes a focus on deconstructing, revealing and
reinterpreting the hidden structures of network aesthetics and
functions.<br>
<br>
The candidate will be expected to be open-minded and
inquisitive. His/her artistic practice and research is expected
to cover areas such as but not limited to: "Big Data," "the
Internet of Things," "Quantified Self," "Network Effects,"
"Affective Computing," "Politics of the Web."<i> </i>The Academy
of Media Arts is involved in developing courses that address the
myriad fusions of physical and digital space today. The teaching
position shall be characterized by a strong reflection of and
artistic intervention into these processes, the results of which
may manifest themselves online and/or in real, physical
settings. Critical artistic knowledge of network technologies is
prerequisite.<br>

The decisive criteria is outstanding artistic talent. Further
requirements are specified in section 29 Kunsthochschulgesetz
NRW. Pedagogical aptitude is a general prerequisite as is the
willingness to contribute to the academy's self-organization.
German language skills are desirable.<br>
<br>
The KHM strives to raise its female quota in research and
teaching positions. Applications by women will be given priority
if qualifications and professional expertise are equivalent to
those of male applicants and reasons specific to individual
candidates do not prevail. Applications by disabled persons and
those with equal status according section 2 SGB IX (German Code
of Social Law) are specifically encouraged.<br>
