Für dieses Projekt arbeitete die Künstlerin mit dem </span><span style="color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-family:HK Grotesk;font-size:12pt;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;">Virtual Reality Lab von Dr. Lucia Valmaggia am King’s College in London zusammen; dort werden klinische Virtual-Reality-Therapien für Personen entwickelt, die psychotische oder schizophrene Episoden durchleben. Die recherchebasierte Videoarbeit untersucht, wie digitale Welten als Räume zur Zusammenarbeit genutzt werden könnten, um die gelebte Erfahrungen anderer Menschen besser zu verstehen. Diese handelt davon, wie verschiedene geschlechtsspezifische, rassifizierte, ökonomische und metabolische Systeme, die Teil des globalen Gesundheitssystems sind – und während der Covid-19-Krise sichtbarer wurden –, Ängste vor einer Ansteckung durch die nichtmenschliche Welt schüren. Ausgangspunkt dieser Arbeit war die Feldforschung, die Jo 2018 in Myanmar durchführte. The work’s departure point is Jo’s 2018 field research in Myanmar with Smithsonian wildlife veterinarians who were hunting for new strains of coronavirus to predict their pandemic potential.
