Pixxelpoint 2004 - »Location 0 = ? / Creative communities
and locative media«, fifth edition

Conceptually, this year's festival will include the
improvements which have been made in the previous edition.
The artworks exhibited will not be selected only in the
international tender, but will also include works of other
renowned artists from the field of digital and researching
art who will be invited to join in the festival. This year's
festival will be thematic. The participants will be asked to
adhere to the topic Location 0 = ? which was defined by the
curators.

The festival wishes to further expand and trespass the
boundaries of the gallery space which has become too small
for all the projects which are to be carried out. For the
first time, the festival will take place on the other side
of the border, in the neighbouring Italy. The exhibition as
the central event of the festival will be mounted at various
locations in Nova Gorica and Gorizia. The transborder
cooperation is considered to be very important since it will
allow both cities to become the unified centre of digital
art in a broader space. The festival will comprise as many
as three exhibitions on digital art which will be conceived
thematically. Each specific artistic genre in the field of
digital art will be presented at a specific locations:
digital animation and interactive art will be on view in the
Nova Gorica City Gallery, the gallery space in the Nova
Gorica Cultural Centre will host the presentation of
computer graphics while computer generated music will be
presented in the Mostovna Cultural Centre in Nova Gorica.
Artworks by acknowledged artists who will be invited by the
curators will be presented in the Nova Gorica City Gallery
together with the project from the Ars Electronica centre
from Linz.

The festival will also include a symposium on the given
topic, as well as workshops run by guest-lecturers.
Accompanying activities will include numerous concerts by
well-known music groups.
