Dear friends of Internet art, unexpected infrastructures and better futures,

After a long, interesting and sometimes bumpy journey through a 
surprisingly elusive and sometimes adversarial contemporary bureaucracy, 
we are finally launching Error 417 Expectation Failed.

Error 417 Expectation Failed is an independent foundation to support 
radically contemporary Internet art and net-based arts practices. So to 
speak art as infrastructure and as a resource for more art.

We are excited to announce the launch of Error 417 Expectation Failed, 
an independent foundation supporting radically contemporary Internet art 
and net-based arts practices. Today, we are publishing our first Open 
Call, "Error 406 [Tech Fascism] Not Acceptable", through which we are 
looking for artistic projects — instructions, scores, how-tos, 
interventions, and practices — against tech fascism.

— Call for Projects

We are launching our first call for artistic projects: instructions, 
scores, how-tos, interventions and practices against tech fascism! This 
call for resistance is not about global fixes or sweeping victories — 
it’s about finding ways to challenge the current systems with the means 
available: misdirection, opting out, and pushing back. Resisting in 
solidarity with others and carving out spaces in which we can develop 
technological systems that align with collective needs rather than 
exploiting us.

The application is open to artists worldwide, collectives, curators, 
arts initiatives, exhibition spaces, online platforms, and developers of 
software and hardware — basically anyone exploring the possibilities of 
contemporary, networked technologies as art and their significance for 
society. We encourage proposals from people who are historically 
underrepresented in art and technology spaces.

Error 417 Expectation Failed is an independent foundation supporting

encourage open-ended formats, risky projects and explorative artworks 
that engage critically with contemporary technology. Our focus lies on 
art that addresses the frictions between technology, aesthetics, 
politics and social relations to challenge power structures — one hack, 
glitch, fail, error, process and experiment at a time.
