Media-made

kontingent erfahrene Welt vorstellen.

Presentation in the Edith Russ Site for Media Art
Thomas Feuerstein 'The Artist as Avatar or from Ready-made to
Media-made'
On the occasion of the exhibition 'Avatars and Others'

Similar to a painter who brings different worlds to canvas in the form
of images, Thomas Feuerstein projects images of the world onto the
artist. Objects do not function as the viewing material of art, but the
artists, himself, is transformed into the object of art. The artist
designs his own double, an artificial artist or a multiple personality
in which differing fields of
discourse come together and from which heretical voices speak. The
installations and performances from the series 'The Artist as Avatar'
relate to the state of the media-influenced individual and create nodes
- points of intersection - by weaving together technological and
cultural-historical threads. These nodes also create the artist’s
situation as symptomatic of the increasingly
contingently experienced world.
