By Jack Kelley, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON — Osama bin Laden and other Muslim extremists
are posting encrypted, or scrambled, photographs and messages
on popular Web sites and using them to plan terrorist activities
against the United States and its allies, U.S. officials say. The
officials say bin Laden and his associates are using the Internet
to conduct what some are calling "e-jihad," or holy war.
This story has also appeared recently on BBC Radio Scotland, from their
correspondent in New York. This time, no mention of how the reporter heard
about this phenomenon.
The 'sources' are softening us up for something, perhaps a draconian
crackdown on internet privacy, increases in surveillance and monitoring of
'subversives'. Perhaps something worse.
