1 - Pioneers & Pathbreakers : New notice about Jean-Claude Risset

Composer and researcher, Jean-Claude Risset has made a seminal
contribution to the field of contemporary music. Laurent Pottier
describes and analyses it for us.


2 - Space and the Arts : Review of the book by Jacques Arnould, La
seconde chance d'Icare. Pour une éthique de l'Espace, Les Editions du
Cerf, Paris, 2001

Dominican priest, Jacques Arnould is ingenier in agronomy, and has a
Ph.D in history of sciences and in theology. He is currently working
with the CNES (French Space Agency) on the ethical, social and cultural
dimensions of space activities.
His book, La seconde chance d'Icare. Pour une éthique de l'Espace
(Icarus' Second Chance. For an Ethic of Space) approaches these issues
in an innovative way while beeing readable by everyone.

3 – Symposium Artmedia VIII : From Aesthetics of Communication to Net Art

November 29th, 30th & December 1er 2002
Centre Français du Commerce Extérieur (CFCE) & Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS)

Mario Costa, from the Universities of Salerno and Napoli (Italy),
together with Annick Bureaud and Fred Forest, are organizing an
international symposium, Artmedia VIII, in Paris at the end of November
2002. During 3 days, this symposium will gather artists and
theoreticians on the topic : From Aesthetics of Communication to Net art.
This symposium has received the support of Leonardo/Olats which hosts
its web site.
Six main themes have been defined :
- History of the aesthetics of technological communication
- Philosophy & aesthetics approaches which includes 3 sub-themes : Body,
cortex and networks ; telepresence ; forms and events in the networks
- New material and new art forms with 2 sub-themes : space and time as
art practice ; video games and hybrid art forms in the networks
- Net art within museums, art market and institutions at the era of globalisation
- Network and the futur of writting
- Architecture, urbanism and technologies of communication
