Silvia Kolbowski is American artist whose work involves various media, and
relationships to sites that are material, historical and social. For the
past ten years she has developed projects such as interventions into various
urban settings, and meta-inquiries into historical phenomena. Her
audio/video project, "an inadequate history of conceptual art," a
quasi-documentary installation about the recent resurgent interest in
Conceptualism, was first exhibited at American Fine Arts Co. in New York
(2000), and subsequently at the Whitney Biennial 2000, the CCAC Gallery in
Berkeley, CA, and will be exhibited at Western Front in Vancouver, Canada in
February 2002. She is currently at work on a multi-media project about
shopping.
