Borderline Stories
website online 1-25 through 2-25
installation in the Jelen=ED Gallery: February 18 - 26, 2002
to participate on-line: go to http://www4.ncsu.edu/~sttwn/border.html
How we project onto others and how we invent images of the world are
explored actively in the project "Borderline Stories".
Borderline Stories is an interactive web-site which relates the stories o=
f 3
recent
immigrants to the USA. The on-line audience is asked to participate by
choosing who
they think represents the narrator based on a visual representation of
the character's age, gender, and ethnicity; by indicating where the
on-line audience member is from; and by adding their own stories to the
web-site. Imagery changes visually in response to the collected input
over a period of one month, morphing or changing the representation of
the characters of the story, and the proportions of global maps.
The texts and visuals collected over a month will be displayed
interactively in the Jelen=ED gallery space, along with the on-line site =
as an
installation using digital projections and video.
