1 - Karlheinz STOCKHAUSEN, by Bruno Bossis

Karlheinz Stockhausen is, with no doubt, a major composer of the 20th
Century, a "sacred monster" of contemporary music. Every one has heard
about him, everyone thinks to know him and his work. In this notice
Bruno Bossis shows the different, complex creation of Stockhausen in all
its dimensions, some of them will be, for sure, new to many readers. His
works, approaches and evolution are analyzed and commented. Moreover,
this notice is an invaluable resource as it lists the composer's works
and refers to numerous writtings by the master and about him.

and illustrations.


2 - Oskar SALA, by Pierre Couprie

Oskar Sala passed away in 2002. Born in 1910, he was one of those
artists-engineers of the 20th Century, like Theremin, that invented
musical instruments that are still used today. He developped the
Trautonium, invented by Friedrich Trautwein en 1930. Then he created the
Mixturtrautonium, a true concert instrument, one of the few perfect
electronic instrument before the apparition of the analog synthetizers.
He composed music for more than 300 films among which the sound of the
birds for Hitchcock famous 1963 movie The Birds.


3 – John CAGE, by Bruno Bossis & Pierre Couprie

Prolific artist, John Cage, at the crossroads of all major artistic
currents of the second half of the 20th Century, is famous for his
prepaired piano. This notice provides a guidelines to his life, career
and achievements.
