I might have known that my research into the emergence of
internet in culture might end up with a conversation
with a Dutch person's imaginary character. I'd really like to
chat with its creator, though I am in no great rush at present.
I think that 'AvS's' inability to make a distinction between
plaisir and jouissance may be the root of the problem
with 'cyberspace' its users and discourses. I think this may be
a problem general to the field of digital culture, and to the psychologies of the many of the people involved with it.
Any thoughts on the matter? It's kinda important to your
end of year curatorial and art project endeavours, people.
Some of you may not make it to year 2.

Well, now that we've buried the Germanic techno 'cyberspace'
stuff perhaps we could all get 'on message' for the
digital cultural theme for the coming year or so?
I mean the Violence theme is so passe, so played out,
so last year. So dated. So 9 11 01.
First, it's important to stress the distinction
between pleasure and joy, or plaisir and jouissance
and to examine how this is played out in different
cultural contexts.
Sound like the plan?
