PRESS RELEASE
*************

"Le Musee di-visioniste"
www.le-musee-divisioniste.org
is happy to launch
the first cross-platform online exhibition
of NewMediaArtProjectNetwork
in cooperation with "A Virtual Memorial
www.a-virtual-memorial.org

entitled:
"Focus:x? - {self}_presentation"

curated and created by Agricola de Cologne.
******************************************
The exhibition is open since
Wednesday, 25 September 2002 and will
run until the end of the year 2002.

******************************************
Focus: x? ...........

is a new type of future curatorial project planning of
NewMediaArtProjectNetwork.
It is planned to organize several times a year
cross-platform projects focussed on a special subject/theme,
including the different sites of
the corporate members of the network as an exhibitions space.

The first project of this series, entitled
"Focus: x? - {self}_presentation"
combines "Edition 05" of the
"Featured Artists" series on "Le Musee di-visioniste"
and the featured project
"Mirror at the Bottom - artists portraiting themselves" (see below)
organized earlier this year by "A Virtual Memorial"
www.a-virtual-memorial.org.

"Focus: X?... can be accessed via the startpage of
www.le-musee-divisioniste.org

********************************************

"Edition 05/Featured Artists" features following three female artists:

1. Coco Gordon - the New York based cross-media artist

2. Melissa Ulto - the New York based video artist

3. Valeri Rose - the young Tampa/Florida based artist

*******************************************

1. The most comprehensive feature represents
"Coco Gordon's {self}_presentation".
In her exciting life Coco Gordon,
New York based, but of Italian origin,
used self-presenting
as an artistic language manifested in performances,
installations or photo sessions.
One could count her to the Fluxus movement,
the variety of her art working surprises the viewer
always with the non-expected.
The "feature" showing a selection of more than
100 works originating from the years 1958 until 2002,
is an ongoing project, which will be updated
and extended from time to time in future.

2. Melissa Ulto, New York based as well,
chose video as her favorite artistic medium
for starting presenting herself.
Her 13 minutes-video "UnMade Movie"
represents an online video exhibit
as an exploration of subculture sexuality,
as depicted by b-movies
and pulp fiction,
mixed with cyber culture.

3. Valeri Rose, an emerging artist from Tampa/Florida/USA
took another way of self-presenting:
her personal artist's homepage.
The combination of half non-commercial
and half commercial offers a variform
view on the artistic intensions and background
including also some ironic aspects.

*************************************************

"Mirror at the Bottom -
Artists portraiting themselves"

curated by Agricola de de Cologne.

"Artists' self-portraits belong to the most fascinating artistic formats
since here the viewer gets a lot of more information about an artist than
through his working in other type of formats.
The view through the mirror at the bottom offers a critical reflection
either connected to an ideal image or its contrary.
154 artists submitted about 300 works. Each artist represents in his
individuality a different unique approach to self-reflection and to art as
such.
This online show encompasses a wide range of media and individual styles.
It represents a composition from virtual, net based "new media" to
traditional, physical
"old media" (but digitalized) artworks, and, in this way, an art work of
itsown."
