[ZEROGLAB ÜBERGROUND] VIDEO STREAMING BY THE 'DARWINIAN6' FROM N5M4
as part of the n5m4 festival in amsterdam, there are several workshops
being held.
one of these workshops was held by the OSSA (open source streaming
alliance).
the 3 day workshop (preceeding the festival) was dealing with the use of
open source,
or free software to stream media on the internet from a linux workstation.
after the workshop, some of the participants decided to work on with the n5m
as
volunteers during the four days of the festival, and help the n5m webstream
crew.
beside the technical skills, one needs to set up and run a web streaming
station,
there was a demand to get deeper into the CONTENT of the stream during the
workshop.
a group of volunteers (THE DARWINIAN6) formed a temporary editorial board
and decided to
concentrate more on the content aspect of webstreaming.
for the board members it became obvius just in the next five minutes after
the workshop,
that they need not only free, usable tools, but also a different mindset to
broadcast
tactical media web streams.
