International Video Reporting Award

 

The »International Video Reporting Award« is an international competition

for short, innovative, non-fiction digital filmmaking. The films must be

helmed by a single person who is solely responsible for content, direction,

camera, sound and editing, and who fully explores the creative dimensions of

digital technology. The filmmaker should also be taking on the challenge of

autonomous production and distribution.

 

The preselection committee and the jury will be looking for excellence in

story content, as well as for imaginative use of filmmaking techniques.

 

The »International Video Reporting Award« gives an overview of international

trends, particularly in the USA and Great Britain, while reflecting the new

developments in Germany from their first stages onwards.

 

The Top Prize carries an award of 1000 Euros.

In addition, the »Michael Rosenblum Junior Award« will be conferred,

containing a personal two-day training with the tv creator Michael

Rosenblum. 

 

The award ceremony will take place during the 6. backup_festival in

Weimar/Germany Oktober, 7. - 10. 2004.

The independent jury for the »International Video Reporting Award« consists

of established television producers, VR-Coaches and University/Film school

teachers. The jury members for 2004 are Sabine Streich, Michael Rosenblum,

Wolfgang Kissel, Jan Metzger (HR) and Benedikt Otto (MDR)

 

The prizes are intended for current formats (MPEG, Quicktime, AVI, DivX,

Realmedia /VHS, S-VHS, Hi8, DV, miniDV, DV-Cam, DVD, VCD). The contributions

must have been completed on or after January 1, 2002, and the running time

should not exceed 15 minutes. Exceptions are possible.

 

The closing date is September 15, 2004. Please send us a DV/DVD-screening

copy with stills and a short bio-/filmographie by this date.

International Video Reporting Award

 

Der »International Video Reporting Award« ist ein internationaler Wettbewerb

für innovative dokumentarische Kurzfilme und Beiträge einzeln arbeitender

Autoren. Regie, Kamera, Ton und Schnitt liegen in einer Hand.

Die Filmschaffenden nutzen das Gestaltungspotential der Digitaltechnik und

begreifen die autonomen Produktions- und Distributionsmöglichkeiten als

Herausforderung. 

 

Vorauswahlkommission und Jury bewerten neben Idee und Konzeption die

schöpferische Auseinandersetzung mit dem digitalen Autorenprinzip.

 

Mit der Vergabe des »International Video Reporting Award« möchten wir einen

Überblick über aktuelle internationale Entwicklungen, insbesondere der

US-amerikanischen und britischen Szene bieten, und die noch junge deutsche

Entwicklung von Anfang an mit begleiten.

 

Der Hauptpreis ist mit 1.000 Euro dotiert.

Außerdem wird der »Michael Rosenblum Junior Award« vergeben, der ein

zweitägiges persönliches Intensivtraining mit dem Fernsehmacher Michael

Rosenblum beinhaltet.

 

Die Preisverleihung findet innerhalb des 6. backup_festival in Weimar vom

7.-10. Oktober 2004 statt.

aus Fernsehmachern, VR Coaches, Hochschullehrern. Die Jury-Mitglieder des

Jahres 2004 sind Sabine Streich, Michael Rosenblum, Wolfgang Kissel, Jan
Metzger (HR) und Benedikt Otto (MDR).

 

Die Preise sind für gängige Formate (MPEG, Quicktime, AVI, DivX, Realmedia /

VHS, S-VHS, Hi8, DV, miniDV, DV-Cam, DVD, VCD) ausgeschrieben. Die Beiträge

sollen nicht vor dem 1. 1. 2002 fertiggestellt worden sein und eine Laufzeit

von 15 Minuten nicht überschreiten. Ausnahmen sind möglich.

 

Einsendeschluss ist der 15. September 2004. Bitte senden Sie uns bis zu

diesem Datum eine DV/DVD-Screening Kopie, Stills und eine Bio- bzw.
