Apologies for cross posting!
www.freeboot.co.uk has finally arrived! The free!boot project is proud to
present a concept which brings the notion of p2p networks back to their
grass roots. free!boot is an online space for promoting and encouraging the
creation and editing of audio files collaboratively.
Litigation against p2p clients from the music industry has helped foster the
popular misconception that p2p networks are solely based on piracy¹. Whilst
piracy is undoubtedly a major factor in the growth of such networks, the
foundations of p2p networks are far more positive: they encourage sharing,
collaboration, community and creativity. The aim of free!boot is to use the
networks once again for their initial purpose: to create, share, and
communicate about wholly original audio works with no copyright
infringement.
To join the free!boot revolution: create your own free!boot audio file or
remix an existing one (find them on shared networks, look for f!b_¹ making
sure it contains the freely available f!b instructions). Save it as an mp3,
name it with the prefix f!b_ and share it on p2p networks.
Make sure you tell all your friends and then make sure you tell us, by
e-mailing the freeboot community.
Thanks
Andy
