The conference, as part of the festival pathiharn electron 
[supernatural], brings together artists, activists & academics from 
the overall southeast-asian & asian-pacific region to discuss the 
opportunites & difficulties of creative usage of digital media. Is 
there an unique asian approach to "new media art"? Specific artistic 
ways of cultural expression?  & what's the position of "digital 
media" in contemporary southeast-asian cultures?

Participants of the conference include Dr. Kamon Jirapong, Director, 
Center of Advance Research in Architecture, Sri Patum University, 
Bangkok [topic: "development of a media art center at Sri Patum 
University"]; Kim Machan, Director, Multimedia Art Asia Pacific 
(MAAP), Brisbane, Australia [topic: "media art in asia pacific"]; 
Andrew H.K. Lam, Curator of Hong Kong Museum of Site, Hong Kong 
[topic: "media art in asia"]; Dr. Irina Aristarkhova, Professor, 
National University of Singapore, Singapore [topic: "cultural 
difference & technology"]; Gunalan Nadarajan, Dean, Office of 
Research & Creative Industries, LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts, 
Singapore & others.

The conference as part of the festival pathiharn electron 
[supernatural] includes two public screenings:
- Friday, 23rd April, 5pm-7pm, thai experimental video; with an 
introduction by Komsan Nookeo, lecturer at King Monkut Institute of 
Technology, Bangkok @ CMU Art Museum Auditorium
- Saturday, 24th April, 5pm-7pm, pathiharn electron [supernatural] 
selected digital works: animation & digital video; with an 
introduction by Rudolf Stoert, switch media chiang mai @ CMU Art 
Museum Auditorium

The exhibition pathiharn electron [supernatural] is open 6th-30th 
April, 11am-5pm (closed on Mondays). CMU Art Museum, 239 Nimanhemin
