An interlinked exhibition, workshop, music event and symposium on 
technological obsolescence. That computer lying in the back of your 
closet, the printer in your attic, the ZX Spectrum on the bottom 
shelf at Oxfam: you may think they're useless, but to Low Grade 
they're the raw materials of innovative and thought-provoking 
contemporary art and music. Featuring live dot matrix pop from TREE 
WAVE (Dallas, Texas); BODENSTANDIG 2000, Germany's masters of 8-bit 
rave cabaret; ALEXEI SHULGIN, the father of cyberpunk (Moscow); LOVID 
(New York) plus Obsolescence and Progress symposium, Tactile Media 
Lab knitting workshop and Fuzzy Logic computational textile 
exhibition - featuring OLIA LIALINA, SADIE PLANT, CAT MAZZA, CORY 
ARCANGEL and many more. Curated by MICHAEL CONNOR and JACKIE PASSMORE.

EVNT SHOWCASE

A free urban weekender of more than 30 events across Manchester's 
creative hub - the Northern Quarter - featuring one-off 
collaborations, live acts, bleeps and drones, freaked-out folk, 
electro-punk cabaret, genre-defying performance and digital audio 
explorations. The EVNT Showcase is a new open strand of the 
Futuresonic festival showcasing new and adventurous events from 
Manchester and around the world, launched in 2005.
