Consciousness Reframed 9: Vienna, 3-5 July 2008

Consciousness Reframed is an international research conference that was
first convened in 1997, and is now in its 9th incarnation. It is a forum
for transdisciplinary inquiry into art, science, technology and
consciousness, drawing upon the expertise and insights of artists,
architects, performers, musicians, writers, scientists, and scholars,
usually from at least 20 countries. Recent past conferences were
convened in Beijing

 Western Australia. This year, the conference will be held on the main
campus of the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Austria. The conference
will include researchers associated with the

which has its CAiiA- hub at Plymouth and nodes at the Nuova Accademia di
Belle Arte, Milan, and the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, Zürich.


Call for Papers

New Realities : Being Syncretic 
We cordially invite submissions from artists, theorists and researchers
engaged in exploring the most urgent issues in the realm of hybrid
inquiries into the fields of art, science, technology and society
through theory and practice alike. We specifically encourage submissions
that re-frame the concept of innovation in its relationship to progress
and change within the context of perception and its transformation.
The Conference will be accompanied by a Book of Abstracts and the
Conference Proceedings including full papers and a DVD, due to be
released autumn 2008 by the renowned scientific publisher

Submissions 
Submission of Abstracts: Abstracts (500 words maximum) are due January
7th, 2007. They should be submitted as an attached document in Text
(txt), Rich Text (rtf), or Acrobat Reader Format (pdf) by e-mail to:

Submission Requirements 
Include in your submission the title of the proposed paper, full
name(s) of author(s), institutional affiliation(s), and your mailing
address, including email/mobile/phone and URL as applicable. Five key
words, and a short biography of 100 words maximum are also required.
Your Abstract must be accompanied by a declaration of intention to
attend the conference. We encourage submissions to include relevant
images. However, the total file size of the abstract submission should
not exceed 500 KB. 

Acceptance 
Abstracts will be acknowledged on receipt, and authors will be notified
of acceptance by February 11th, 2008. 

Submission of Full Papers 
Your paper (no more than 2500 words) will be required by June 26th,
2008. Papers received after this date will not be published. Full
details of copy-ready requirements will be supplied at the time of
acceptance. 

Presenters Fee 
In order to be included in the Abstracts publication, Conference
Programme, Conference Proceedings, publicity and announcements,
including the Website, the Registration Fee must have been paid by March
3rd, 2008. The Registration Fee for presenters will be 250 € and
includes the Book of Abstracts anlong with a copy of the Conference
Proceedings. 
Details of how to pay the registration fee will be given on the
registration form available at the time of acceptance.
