SMARTCITY EU | new urban challenges - new artistic practices

SmartCityEU is an art project which explores and 
develops new artistic interventions within urban 
spaces in European cities during a 2 year period 
in 2008 and 2009.

At the forefront of new practices, SmartCityEU 
operates an art rereading of urban space and 
offers a vision of a balanced and sustainable 
European city reoriented towards citizens.

SmartCityEU has been initiated by 4 major 
cultural institutions sharing a common interest 
in new art forms and new media:

<http://www.zoneattive.it/>Zoneattive [IT] and 
<http://ww/altart.org>AltArt<http://ww/altart.org> 
[RO].

The 4 operators have applied together to the 
European Commission's Culture programme.

Moreover, SmartCityEU brings together numerous 
actors in the fields of art, urban development 
and new technologies such

[BE], <http://www.bodig.org/>boDig [TR], 
<http://www.kibla.org/>Kibla [SI] and

SmartCityEU's art programme (exhibitions, live 
art, performances, concerts) takes place in 8 
European cities: Paris, Wroclaw, Rome, Cluj, 
Istanbul, Brussels, Maribor and Novi Sad.

ART WATCH AND PROJECTS' SELECTION

  DEDALE + WRO + ZONEATTIVE + ALT ART initiated an 
art watch in the view of the SmartCityEU events.

TYPE OF SEARCHED PROJECTS
Monumental audiovisual installations, locative 
arts, live art in urban spaces, art projects 
using mobile and wireless technologies, diversion 
of urban furniture uses, sound design, ephemeral 
and interactive architectural projects, 
installations in boutiques, projects involving 
inhabitantsŠ and, generally speaking, all forms 
of artistic and critical interpretation of the 
city.
