V2_Events: WARUM 2.0
Jan.21-Feb.1, 2009
12-7 p.m.
Admission 3 euro
As part of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, V2_ presents
Stefaan Decostere's installation WARUM 2.0.
Warum 2.0 is an installation in the form of an arena and includes 360
degree video projections, sound, and various interactive modules that
allow real-time audience interventions through YouTube, Second Life and
security cameras. The installation can be regarded as an ongoing
investigation into the relationship of the image, the media and the
viewer. Warum 2.0 contains unique material shot by cameraman Daniel
Demoustier in Darfur, Afghanistan, Haiti, Iraq, Gaza and Kosovo and
excerpts from interviews with cultural philosopher Paul Virilio.
Festival director Rutger Wolfson will officially open the installation
at 5 p.m. on January 22.
Stefaan Decostere and colaborators will be present at the opening.
V2_ is still urgently seeking volunteers to help out during the
WARUM2.0 exhibition (you will receive compensation).
The exhibition of WARUM 2.0 in Rotterdam is made possible in part by
the city of Rotterdam?s arts and culture department, the Prins Bernhard
Cultuurfonds for Zuid-Holland, and the Ministry of the Flemish Community.
