Trampoline invites you to Tracing Mobility: Cartography and Migration in
Networked Space.
Tracing Mobility sets out to examine how electronic networks and mobile
media are transforming our conceptions of time, space and distance.
EXHIBITION OPENING
The exhibition will open on Wednesday, 23.11.11 at 19.00 at Haus der
Kulturen der Welt, Berlin.
On that night, a music programme curated by Jeff McGrory will start at
20.00, featuring Chicoree, Birdcage Tombola, Roy Carroll & Matthias Müller.
At 21.00 the exhibiting artists Simon Faithfull, Landon Mackenzie, Esther
Polak & Ivar van Bekkum will give a short presentation of their works.
The weekend of 26 & 27 November is comprised of an international symposium
(Sat 26 from 11.00-17.00) and the Open Platform (26 & 27), bringing together
many more artists and cultural practitioners with presentations, talks and
discussions.
The exhibition presents the positions of 16 international artists who trace
the shifting terrain of global and local mobility, virtual and material
movement. They use varying approaches to pursue the numerous questions of
our present's mobility: Where can we escape to when online and offline
worlds converge? What does the movement of a body in a landscape indicate
when every point of the earth is within reach through the aid of digital
technology? How do mobile devices and media alter our mindset and change our
perception of time and space?
Related events, including the Symposium, and the Tracing Mobility Open
Platform will offer further explorations of these themes via lectures, talks
and workshops.
We would love to see you and your friends at the opening!
