[spectre] Archival Dialogues: Reading the Black Star Collection

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

This is to let you know that *Archival Dialogues:  Reading the Black Star
Collection,* the inaugural exhibition at the new Ryerson Image Centre, with
works by *Stephen Andrews, Christina Battle, Marie-Hélène Cousineau, Stan
Douglas, Vera Frenkel, Vid Ingelevics, David Rokeby* and *Michael Snow*, is
now installed and open to the public until December 16th, 2012.

Each of the media works on view is based on the artist's exploration of the
*Black Star Collection* of circa 300,000 documentary photographs given to
Ryerson University by an anonymous donor.  A major source of images for *Life,
Time, Picture Post*, *Look**, *and other magazines of the era, the Black
Star Collection has now fuelled eight 'readings' by contemporary artists.
